Mathew Neeson off to South Africa

Mathew ‘Junior’ Neeson is off to South Africa. For those of you who have been watching the Men’s CL1 side play this year, there have probably been a few of you asking “who’s that kid playing in defence?” The answer to that question is Mathew Neeson. Mat is a united junior who has been selected to play in the Australian Schoolboys side to play South Africa in a 3 test series in South Africa from 1st July – 16th July.

Mat has been a part of the ACT representative program from an early age and has only just this year gone away with the Under 21’s squad at the tender age of 16. He has also worked hard on his own development through the senior ranks at United starting back in 2013 in SL2 and still only last year was playing SL1 to now being a regular fixture on the CL1 playing roster. On top of his playing commitments, Mat has also joined forces this year with Harry Deane to coach the Under 15 boys’ team at United. The club is extremely proud of Mat for this achievement in his young career, and we look forward to bigger things to come.

We would to wish him the best of luck on his trip to South Africa wearing the green and gold.

The club will be having a gathering in the Australia Room for Mathew Neeson after the Mens CL1 match, around 5:00pm on Saturday 18th June. Come along and give him a pat on the back, high five, congratulations, etc. beverages will be available and platters will be served.
